Relationship Between Serum GGT And Classification Of Hypertension And Intima-media Thickness In Elderly Patients Of Hypertension

ObjectiveTo investigate the relationship between GGT and classification of hypertension in the elderly patients,and analyze the correlation between GGT and carotid intima-media thickness(CIMT).MethodsThe elderly patients(n=172)of hypertension were chosen from hospital from April 2013 to June 2015 as study subjects.According to the diagnostic standard in the chinese hypertension prevention and cure guideline,hypertension group was divided further into 3 subgroup(grade 1,grade 2 and grade 3).80 cases of healthy physical examination in our hospital during the same period were selected as control group.Serum GGT,Uric Acid(UA),Serum creatinine(Scr),total triglyceride(TG),total cholesterol(TC),high density lipoprotein(HDL-C),low density lipoprotein(LDL-C),Fasting blood-glucose(FBG)were measusedin all group.CIMT was measured by Doppler ultrasonography.according to the degree of carotid artery atherosclerosis,they were divided into normal carotid IMT group(IMT<0.85mm),carotid IMT thicknessing group(0.85mm?IMT<1.3mm)and IMT plaque formation group(?1.3mm).The relationship of serum GGT with classification of hypertension and carotid IMT was analyzed.ResultsThe levels of UA,LDL-C,FBG,GGT,IMT in hypertension group were higher than that in normal control group(P < 0.05);serum GGT was increased with the increase of hypertension grade(F=5.503,P=0.011).The level of serum GGT in grade 2 subgroup was higher than that in grade 1 subgroup(t=0.787,P=0.442).The level of serum GGT in grade 3 subgroup was significantly higher than that in grade 2 subgroup(t=2.340,P=0.031).Classification of hypertension and serum GGT,IMT showed positive correlation(r=0.512,P=0.004;r=0.696,P=0.000).serum GGT and IMT showed positive correlation(r=0.354,P=0.049).There was significant difference in serum GGT between different IMT group(F=5.764,P=0.008).Furthermore,the level of serum GGT in IMT thicknessing group was higher than that in IMT normal group(t=1.083,P=0.292),the level of serum GGT in IMT plaque formation group was significantly higher than that in IMT thicknessing group(t=2.112,P=0.048).Logistic regression analysis showed that age,UA,LDL-C,GGT were the independent predictors of carotid atherosclerosis.Conclusionserum GGT was closely related to carotid artery atherosclerosis in elderly patients with hypertension.GGT were the independent predictors of carotid atherosclerosis.
