Pitch is a kind of suprasegmental cues,and its perceptual strategy and mechanism if different from segmental phoneme,such as vowels and consonants.Accurate pitch perception depends on the extraction of frequency cues.Artificial cochlear implantation children(CI)cannot obtain accurate tonal information due to the limit of electrode length,number of channels and speech encoding strategies.Therefore,the theory suppose that the use of hearing aids on the non-implanted side can perceive the pitch information better.However,due to the lack of domestic empirical research,most cochlear implanters are negative or wait-and-see about whether to wear hearing aids.This study intends to explore the advantages of binaural bimodal fitting in the study of 36 pairs of children with speech pitch(lexical tone and intonation)perception and music pitch perception.The main research contents and results are as follows: 1.Lexical tone recognition characteristics of children with binaural bimodal fittingThe experiment design was carried out by 2(hearing type: single cochlear,binaural bimodal fitting)x 2(tone level: single syllable,short sentence)repeated measurement.The results showed that the tone recognition of children with binaural bimodal fitting were significantly better than that of the single cochlear,and the score increased by 13.04%.The main effect of tone level is not significant.The interaction between hearing type and tone level was not significant.In addition,the correlation analysis of hearing threshold and lexical tone recognition score showed that the better the nonimplantation side hearing threshold,the better the voice recognition score of hearing impaired children.2.Intonation recognition characteristics of children with binaural bimodal fittingThe experiment design was carried out by 2(hearing type: single cochlear,binaural bimodal fitting)x 3(intonation type: happy,sad and angry)repeated measurement.The results showed that the intonation recognition of children with binaural bimodal fitting were significantly better than that of the single cochlear,and the score increased by 16.65%.In three kinds of intonation,the children's recognition score for the angry intonation was significantly better than that of happy and sad,and it was relatively easy to identify the intonation with higher base frequency and higher frequency range.In addition to frequency cues,speed cues can also assist in intonation perception.3.Musical pitch recognition characteristics of children with binaural bimodal fittingThe experiment design was carried out by 2(hearing type: single cochlear,binaural bimodal fitting)x 3(Frequency range: 220Hz-880 Hz,440Hz-1760 Hz,1760Hz-3520 Hz.)repeated measurement.The results showed that music pitch perception of children with binaural bimodal fitting were significantly better than that of single cochlear,and the score increased by 6.49%.The overall score of the musical pitch perception was low,and the children with single cochlear fitting were at the chance level,because of the lack of time and rhythm cues.In addition,their perception of medium-and high-frequency music tones is superior to that of the low-frequency range music pitch.4.Relationship of lexical tone?intonation and musical pitch perceptionThe results shows that lexical tone perception and musical pitch perception are moderate related,thus speculate that electroacoustic bimodal fitting for speech and music pitch perception strategy and mechanism could be the same,the future for speech pitch perception of speech coding strategy may also can improve the children's perception and appreciation for music.Innovation of this research is to study pitch perception of binaural bimodal fitting advantage from speech perception and music perception respectively.We created a new lexical tone perception test materials,which enrich lexical tone test evaluation materials.
