Objective: To detect the expression of Krüppel-like factor 4(KLF4)and E-cadherin protein in non-muscle invasive bladder cancer(NMIBC)tissues and to determine the role of KLF4 and E-cadherin in the progression of bladder cancer, express the interrelationships of change. Methods: SP method was used to detect the expression of KLF4 and E-cadherin protein in 20 cases of primary NMIBC.The same number of adjacent normal tissues, primary myometrial bladder carcinoma and recurrent NMIBC were used as control group.Contingency coefficient analysis of KLF4,E-cadherin protein in bladder cancer correlation;?2 test analysis of the differences between the different groups of indicators. Results: The expression of KLF4 and E-cadherin was decreased in primary NMIBC compared with paracancerous normal tissues. The positive expression rate of KLF4 protein was 70% vs 95%(P<0.05)in newly diagnosed NMIBC and adjacent normal tissue, and the positive rate of E-cadherin protein was 65% vs 90% in both cases(P<0.05);KLF4 protein was positive The rate was 70% vs 50% in newly diagnosed NMIBC and primary muscular invasive bladder cancer(P<0.05),and the positive expression rate of E-cadherin protein was 65% vs 60% in both cases(P<0.05);KLF4 The positive rate of protein expression was70% vs 20% in the initial NMIBC and recurrent NMIBC(P<0.05),and the positive rate of E-cadherin protein was 65% vs 30% in both cases(P<0.05).The stages gradually progressed and the expression gradually decreased.Contingency coefficient results showed a positive correlation between KLF4 and E-cadherin protein expression in bladder cancer(r=0.493,P<0.05).Conclusion: The expression of KLF4 and E-cadherin protein in primary NMIBC was lower than that in adjacent normal tissues. However, the expression of KLF4 and E-cadherin protein was higher than that in invasive primary bladder carcinoma andrecurrent NMIBC.The expression of two proteins gradually decreased with tumor progression.Contingency coefficient results suggest that KLF4 may promote each other through the regulation of E-cadherin expression and play a role in tumor suppressor. The joint detection of the two can be more effective in judging the progress of bladder cancer.
