Color as the most intuitive,most emotional factor in visual art,has important effects on visual psychology and intuition.The traditional literati painting likes black and white,bleak and backward seclusion.To the late Qing Dynasty,Shanghai school of literati painters boldly into color elements,"the color changed from light to rich",to make the song and Yuan Dynasties literati painting bright for the first time.But the most prominent achievement is undoubtedly Wu Changshuo.With its color freehand brushwork of flower paintings,Wu Changshuo becomes Shanghai giant,and a master of Shanghai's style of painting.In this paper,we take Wu Changshuo as a case study,analysis the characteristics and the causes of his color.At the same time,the properties of the warm and cold colors and the spirit of the times culture coincide.At the end of the Qing Dynasty,Wu Changshuo bold use colors,Simple thick,consistent with this period for strong cultural climate.What's more,Color in the traditional literati eye is namely vulgar,however in Wu' s color freehand flower painting is to "vulgar" into the elegant,gorgeous but not vulgar,anti traditional literati ideas,bold challenge to color is vulgar,breaking the boundaries of elegance and vulgarity,the vulgar as elegance.The author thinks that we should not sampely take color as the judgment standard of refined and popular culture.The last section of the article discusses the achievements,limitation and influence of colored Wu Changshuo freehand brushwork of flower paintings on later generations.Although Wu Changshuo flower painting with color brilliant achievements,but also has its own limitations.He brings profound stone carving,calligraphy skills and poetry accomplishment to come into the picture,the bold use of color to capture everything,absorb the public aesthetic requirements,cater to vend painting market,creating a unique simple,gorgeous vigorous style,appeal to both the more and the less cultured.But color is not the colour of the west,it is still Chinese traditional concept of "color","decorative color".color language itself has not been fully excavated,disregard for the uniqueness of the color itself.His flower paintings is the inheritance and development of traditional Chinese literati painting in the modern social conditions,and moreover,it' s the freehand brushwork of literati painting development into modern art model,the Chinese painting to a new level,created a heavy color painting with freehand brushwork,fresh air.The widespread influence,not only in the country,but also spread overseas,especially in japan.
