The way of written Chinese have no words spacing, which makes word boundary segmentation has always been a difficulty in teaching of Chinese as a foreign language. Chinese community members can segment punctuate and understand the language materials rely on their own Chinese language sense.For the foreign students who are not members of the Chinese community, the effective Chinese words sense is an important factor to help them read Chinese texts.Firstly, this paper describes and analyses the word-building ability of morpheme “Bái” and the ability of morpheme “Bái” as a word systematically.Word-building ability mainly describes the words' formation and number of various meanings;Ability of morpheme " Bái " as a word mainly describes the grammar nature and function. Then it researches the acquisition of foreign students' words sense by experimental investigation.View on the foreign students' types and causes of errors of the words sense: the main types of errors are merge style segmentation and split-type segmentation. The reasons of the errors include verbal area and non-verbal area of text. Verbal area including five areas: the confusion of words and character, familiar words interference,voice continuity interference, lack of vocabulary, and lacking context awareness; Non-verbal area are including two aspects: apparent breadth is not wide enough and students' awareness of self-monitoring is weak.View on the status quo about the acquisition of foreign students' words sense:(1) there are some differences in the junior and the senior stage on the acquisition of words sense about words consist of morpheme “ B á i ”, Senior students' self-monitoring awareness and word sense is more stronger and better than junior students;(2) Compare to the foreign students of non-Chinese character cultural sphere, the foreign students of Chinese character cultural sphere showed no advantage.According to the analysis,the paper gives some related strategies tentatively about language knowledge, reading skills, pragmatic and cultural, and compiling of foreign students-oriented Chinese textbook to improve foreign students' words sense.
