Object of this study is 《Echoes of History》 and Lijiang Dongjing music, mainly concentrated in Lijiang County. For a long period of time, because politics factors, Dongjing activities once stopped. After the reform and opening up, under the leadership of a group of old artists, Lijiang Dongjing music activities back to life.Writing in this paper based on the existing research results of Dongjing music, With 《Echoes of History》 main line, launched a field work in Lijiangcounty. The article includes five parts:the introduction, the first chapter, the second chapter, the third chapter, the conclusion. Among them, the first chapter is the translation, describes the origin of Helen Rees’s research, research methodology, goals of this book, and the use of theoretical issue, by combing from Dongjing music to the Naxi Ancient music change process, linking the Lijiang Naxi county this remote regions and ethnic groups to the country’s political, economic and even global context, put forward Lijiang Dongjing music research value and the significance of writing. The second chapter is Lijiang Dongjing music fieldwork, introduced the distribution of local Dongjing music associations, the activities of on which a association of Dayan and Dayan Naxi Ancient music association were recorded. The third chapter, Compare 《Echoes of History》 with present situation of Dongjing music, analysis of ancient music association changes in nearly 20 years, and make a brief review of Helen Rees and her research.Helen Rees research 《Echoes of History》 for Dongjing music dissemination in the world has played a huge role. She led the artists traveling to British, so that they realize the value of Dongjing music, enhance their sense of pride to the local culture and let the younger generation willing to learn Dongjing music, the villagers were eager to meet the strong desire of their own culture to be accepted and recognized.Helen Rees and her research brought tremendous shock for our scholars. the research object placed in political, economic, national research perspective, her scientific research methods, and broad research sources, broaden the horizons of minorities music study, promote the development of ethnomusicology.
