The Study Of Disaster Theme Writing By The Chinese New Generation Science Fiction Writers

Science fiction, the special genre of literature, its development went through several serious tribulations and triumph, and it did not recover until 90 s of last century. The new generation science fiction writers are the main force of the Chinese science fiction circles. In the part of creation, they break the stereotype of science popularization, and their attentions are focus on the literature fiction’s value of literature and society. Besides, they renovate the narrative pattern of science fiction,and initiate new subject matter. What’s more, the topic of discussion was related to some eternal and leading issues. This article selected the disaster theme created by the new generation science fiction writers, then systemized and categorized them, and investigate the particular textual features and ideological implication of these works.The main body of this article are consist of three parts,The first chapter discussed the classification of the disaster themes of science fiction, and they are “nature disaster type” “scientific and technical alienation type”and “others invasion type”, which concluded the characteristics and development of various scientific disaster fiction. On the basis of this grouping, this part summarized the writing situation of the new generation science fictionists.In the second chapter, the emphasis was placed on the generality in the narrative mode as a literary genre. By the means of textual detailed description, the textual features of science disaster fictions by the new generation writers are analyzed from the perspectives of plot, character, and environment. In the part of plot, the characteristics of scientific disaster are fantasy, strangeness, tentativeness. In the part of character, three typical figures, science, hero, and women, are selected to be analyzed in a detailed manner. In the portion of environment, the features are variety and the combination of fiction and fact.In the third chapter, the problem which why the new waves of authors are crazy about product with disaster theme, and concluded the implications of those products.Firstly, influenced by the Chinese tradition, the writing of disaster motif, and literary characteristics of scientific fiction, the awareness of unexpected development could be found in the scientific disaster. What’s more, with the influence of modern view and points of ecological ethics, the reflectiveness was demonstrated by the means of disaster. At last, fear and ideas beyond anthropocentrism are also expressed with their products.
