This subject is a comprehensive research combines traditional folk cocept of New Year paintings with modern social politics, economy and culture,as for the diachronic evolution of New Year paintings in Agricultural Time, Industrial time and Information time.This subject uses the theory and method of Communication Studies, exploring the communication performance which makes in the generation and evolution progress of New Year paintings’folk concept."The Old Paintings" was result of the influence of Yin Yang five elements thinking mode, and it paid attention to "counteract each other" and unify.Images and themes of "the Old Paintings" fully demonstrates the most primitive and pious worship of ancestors and gods.The"unreasonable" imagine of "the Old Paintings" is full of exaggerated and decorative color, overwhelming all the "rational" factors. During this period, Communicators were folk artists who virtualized the objective world in accordance with their wishes;the Audience was simple peasant,and distinctive regional characteristics meet the different areas of the public’s aesthetic preference;the Transmission mode was the ancient "Mass Media"of which characteristics is Illustrated,low price and wide range.In "The Modified Paintings" period, western ideas brought big impact to the traditional way of thinking. Personal gods,western "environmental color"and innovation of composition, all add some exotic to the warm Annual custom products.During this period, in addition to folk artists,Communicators added some enlighteners;Audiences become the propaganda object of the new thought, both rational and emotional; at this time,the Media extended to the newspaper prints from paper pictures, making a veritable one-way"Mass Media".In the period of "Fresh New Year Paintings", creation was under the impact of the official’s "Main Melody", and the image coding was also with a strong color of the age, so there’s a collision between theme of real life(like war) and theme of pure gods.Paintings in this period lacked of reiki and lively complex elements, thus making it lost the hearts of people, but it had won the main battlefield of the war movement. During this period, the constitution of Communicators are revolutionary artists, they put the elite consciousness well into the folk concept with well versed about the art; Audiences began to accept the fact of the regional weakening; compared to "the Modified",the Transmission mode of this period was more diverse.With the baptism of the commercial atmosphere,"The New Period Paintings" and today’s paintings catered to people’s spiritual and material life. New Year paintings trapped in the collective unconscious with Blind copy of the traditional style. But it has to be said that during this period, New Year Paintings had more opportunities.Communicators were "grass-roots" which made the creation more freely; Audiences interpreted the information freely and entertaining, so let the visual information of pictures have more advantages; at the same time, the Media’timeliness and audiences’ fragmentation reading habits brought the paintings of this period more challenges.In general, the interpretation of paintings should have cultural background and stable knowledge structure to rely on.The model characteristics and folk belief of pictures is folk cognitive which is agreed with Communicators and Audiences,and with self regulation by way of inheritance.According to various branches like Folklore, History, Aesthetics and Anthropology, this topic explore the evolution of culture through the perspective of Communication consciously, especially to the significance of the paintings’ generation and evolution. Under the background of Communication,this topic tries to reveal the history and characteristics of folk concept, initiative change and role change of the Communicators, regional and hierarchy of the Audiences, evolution of transmission mode, and the characteristic of the Media. This paper hope enhance the pictures’ adaptability in modern society through the carding of the folk concept like way of thinking, folk belief and folk aesthetic.
