Zen Charm of Fu Yan Temple, a micro documentary recording the Buddhist culture of Nanyue, is one of the thirteen short films included on the list of the technological service projects for Huxiang(Hunan) regional culture. This study is a project practice report for the shooting practice of this micro documentary. Based on the author s own practices as well as his abundant first-hand materials, the paper explores and summarizes the working approaches for the adoption of dynamic digital image in shooting micro documentary on related cultural heritage, in order to provide technical support and outline constraints on similar shooting practices from a theoretical aspect. Therefore, the potential participants in the future taking part in similar projects may involve in the practice of image record of Huxiang cultural heritage more effectively. In this way, the study is of certain referential significance and application value. Zen Charm of Fu Yan Temple aims to lead temples and visitors to protect and carry forward the Nanyue Buddhist culture. The micro documentary can also be broadcasted through image exhibitions, traditional TV media, video portals, new media such as cell phone and Pad, and other platforms including mobile terminals to better publicize, showcase, and promote the Buddhist culture of Nanyue. Closely related to the practice itself, the study first introduces the background, significance, and source of the project, summarizes the definition and characteristics of the micro documentary, and then puts forward four types of micro documentaries on cultural heritage. It further presents the project subject and theme, and orientation of image style, sums up the reasons for the choice of shooting time and place, and proposes the technology and artistic standards for material collection of dynamic digital image. The experience gained from this project practice is summarized from such three aspects as preparation, middle-stage shooting, and postproduction. A brief summary of the project is made in the end in terms of technical devices, shooting experience, editing experience, and project cost.
