Martin Buber is a famous thinker and religious philosopher in the 20 th century.According to the past academic researches, scholars mainly focus on his philosophy of meeting and dialogue, and applied it to their religious studies,Chinese philosophy, western philosophy, comparative poetics and other academic fields.I noticed that Buber had concerned about eastern religions and Hebrew Bible,Hasidic classics of Judaism, and translated some scriptures from Hebrew or English languages into German, and added his own comments and reviews of them. In his classic masterpiece I and Thou, he had expressed his meeting and dialogical thought in his poetic and soulful style;in his later work Between Man and Man he had reviewed on the development of philosophy, also had developed it.I wrote this paper based on such consciousness of problem: Firstly, a good knowledge of different cultural traditions can also help a person understand his own tradition better. Secondly, from interpreting one's own traditional classics can this person experience the similar thoughts and feelings of others who hold also deep feelings towards their own tradition. So my thesis may be divided into four parts: a quite brief introduction of my thesis topic introduction and of Buber's contribution; then his practice in translating and interpreting of Hebrew Bible and his understanding of Hasidic thoughts;then his concentration on the Oriental Classics, taking the Taoism for example; finally some inspirations we can get from Buber's work to religious dialogical thoughts. As far as Chinese culture is concerned, we also faced with the problem of traditional culture and modernization.I think Buber's loyal to his own religious and cultural tradition and his humility to others really gave us a good demonstration.
