A New Source Of Redemption: Martin Buber's Acceptance And Transformation Of "Zhuangzi"

Martin Buber Martin Buber was one of the most important religious philosophers of the twentieth century,and his thoughts had an important influence on religion,theology,anthropology,and education at that time.The study of Buber at home and abroad is full of enthusiasm,and the concept of salvation is an important clue to the study of Martin Buber.This is evident in his early Zionism,Hasid's fables,and "I and Thou",but the salvation concept in the Taoist texts he translated and reviewed is rarely noticed.According to the English translation of Giles,Martin Buber translated the " Talks and Parables of Chuang Tzu " in the translation of " Chuang Tzu" in German.Buber is "I and You" written after extensive study of Eastern religions,especially Taoism and Hasidicism.This makes his translation of " Chuang Tzu" closely related to Hasidism and early dialogue thoughts.Therefore,the concept of salvation in Buber's translation of " Chuang Tzu" is extremely important for understanding Martin Buber's thought.This article hopes that through the understanding of Buber's concept of salvation,it can fill the gap in the current domestic research;on the other hand,it is also hoped to re-recognize Chinese Taoism from the perspective of others.Buber had studied a large number of works on mysticism before translating and commenting on Taoism.At that time,German sinologists understood Taoism as mysticism,which was the main reason why Buber was interested in " Chuang Tzu".Therefore,the first part of this article explores Buber's pre-understanding foundation of “Chuang Tzu”'s thoughts,including his early interest in mysticism and the interpretation of Eastern culture.At that time,the sinologists understood Taoism,which he later translated " Chuang Tzu" has produced an important impact.The second part mainly analyzes the salvation concept of Buddhism,Hasidism,and I and Thou published by Buber before 1923,and excavated Buber renewal of human beings,God and man,man and man.The transformation of human relations is at the core of its concept of salvation,which is in line with his concept of salvation in Taoism.The third part analyzes the text of Buber's translation of " Talks and Parables of Chuang Tzu ",and discovers the implicit translator's voice from his choice of text and creative misreading in translation.Buber built his focus on the shaping of "central man." People can achieve unity and renewal through inaction and Tao.The fourth part analyzes the relationship between Taoism and saints,inaction and redemption from Buber's translation of Chuang Tzu and Taoist commentary.This is not only the transformation of Buber's Taoist thought but also the Taoist inaction and the inner sanctuary and other thoughts on Buber.The effect of the concept of salvation is the result of dialogue.
