The King Gesar of Tibet is a grand epic, it is widely known in Tibet. Even many children study it as a textbook. This Magnum Opus however, outside of Tibet, most people know very little about it. This project's goal is to promote and protect the cultural significance and heritage of King Gesar.A word or alphabet is a symbol, its advantage is that it forms an exact description and expression in the context of the language. Since the written text is unique to each nation, mastering this code takes a lot of energy. Readers can understand symbols through its inherent pictorial meaning, hence the understanding of a symbol is done visually, not through acquired learning like that of a particular language. Symbolic system, at the international level has become so common. For example, the female and male bathrooms have universal graphics that are understood by all in every part of the world. When someone doesn't understand a local language or culture because he/she is foreign to that part of the world, symbols will become an useful and accessible communication tool, for example, direction arrows, gender signs, and weather signals etc. This is the graphic symbol system's charm. Also, it is based on this effect, that people can avoid the use of learned language and still understand the meaning and expression of a written code. The author use a symbol system design method in the context of the King Gesar e Book. The author transforms the content of a text-only version of the e Book into a displayed graphic version. Hence this epic will be accessible by many more people. Even if the reader won't be able to understand the great significance of this epic, he may know a thing or two about this story after reading the symbolic e Book version. If that can be accomplished, the goal of this design project is reached. This design is to apply new media methods to a traditional e-book. The advantage of creating a new media e-book is to add interactivity and read interesting, also to absorb the readers into the story through active participation.
