The Study On The Russian Version Of Strange Tales From A Chinese Studio By Alekseev

Alekseev is one significant figure in the history of Russian Sinology with rich academic research in his life. He was the first Russian Sinologist to translate stories from Liao Zhai Zhi Yi. His translation has been highly praised for the accurate understanding on the Chinese language and culture as well as superb translation skills, and has been considered with certain literary values and folklore values. His translations combined methods of alienation and domestication with very accurate grasp of the contents, which fully reflects his profound literary accomplishment and excellent translation level. Meanwhile, Alexeyev also has in-depth study on the unique folk culture from China, and has some interpretation on the fox culture embodied in Liao Zhai Zhi Yi, as well as Buddhism culture and Confucian culture.There is few research thesis on Alekseev's translation of Liao Zhai Zhi Yi overseas, and most are review articles. In terms of content, domestic research papers have several main directions of brief introduction, translator research, translation strategy study and cultural study, the paper number is not quite big with many gaps left. Based on the works and specific translation texts, this paper expects to make studies on translation strategies and translation techniques in theories of hermeneutics and translation, together with the research paper on Liao Zhai Zhi Yi by Alexeyev, to discuss his cultural Interpretation on it and make a further elucidation on Alekseev's Russian translation features in Liao Zhai Zhi Yi with a whole control of the characteristics of the translation.The paper has four parts. The first part is the introduction, which mainly illustrates the topic significance and research methods of this paper, and makes review and summary of the existing research. The first chapter mainly introduces Alekseev's Sinology history and his translation achievement, and files the versions for his original version and the published version of his translation. The second chapter analyzes the features for the translation strategies in Liao Zhai Zhi Yi, including his translation philosophy, the translation method combining domestication and dissimilation, as well as the shortcomings, errors and mistranslation parts in his translation. By filing his explanation on China's unique cultural phenomena in the translation of Liao Zhai Zhi Yi, the third chapter discusses the views on cultural fox different in Russia and China by Alekseev and other Russian scholars, the translation of Buddha and Taoist as well as the interpretation of Confucianism.In the end. the paper makes the conclusion, summarizes Alekseev's translation features and skills and concludes his interpretation of Chinese culture, thus to provide reference for the translation and transmission of Chinese classical literature.
