This paper attempts to study the dynamic process of listening comprehension in E-C CI and the employment of processing models by interpreters.Listening comprehension is a dynamic, complex and multi-tasked process, and both subjective and objective variables would influence interpreters' choice of information processing. While conventional idea believes that interpreters mostly use Bottom-up model in the beginning, then Top-down model in the middle and latter stage of listening comprehension, which is not diversified and relatively invariable. Therefore this paper, from the perspective of Schema Theory and through empirical study, attempts to explore the dynamic process and refute the traditional idea.In this paper, the empirical research shows that: 1.In the listening comprehension process in E-C CI, subjects with different English proficiency would adopt different processing model; 2. Subjects' listening comprehension process also varies to meet the demand of different interpreting content; 3.It is possible for subjects to use interactive model in the beginning of the listening comprehension process; 4.Most subjects have used Interactive model through the whole process. This paper includes five parts, with three chapters in between. The first part is a brief introduction of the outline of the whole paper.Chapter One lays the theoretical foundation for the paper. Definition, classification and the implication on CI of Schema Theory are elaborated in this part. Chapter Two reviews the previous studies regarding listening comprehension in CI. Chapter Three is devoted to the empirical study of listening comprehension in E-C CI, besides limitations and implications on interpreting study of this research also presented in this chapter. The last part reports the major findings of the study and suggestions for future research.
