This is a translation project report of The Effect of Corporate Governance on the Performance of US Investment Banks. The original text is an academic paper that focuses on the relationship between corporate governance and investment bank performance. It uses Dynamic Panel Threshold Analysis method in econometrics and expounds the relationship between corporate governance and investment bank performance by different variables. The translator designates Skopos Theory, through the whole process of pre-translation works, content analytic and proofreading, as the theory frame of the translation project. The original text has the feature of professional expression, strict structure and strong logic. Besides, it includes a plethora of empirical researches and data analysis. Therefore, the selection of appropriate translation method and theory is a key factor to convey the information of the original text. This report concentrates on the application of Skopos Theory in the translation process by translator and discusses the difficulty in translate and treatment by citing example sentences. Specifically, it is an economics academic paper and its main difficulty of translation is dealing with professional terms and special expression. The strategy of translator is taking preparation before translation and examining the background information of original text. Following Skopos rule, coherence rule and loyalty rule, translator makes expression specialized and be consistent with the style of original text. In the end, the report concludes the experience from this translation project.
