A Report On The Translation Of Corporate Governance

Business English concerning corporate governance aspect is still an applicativelanguage on the basis of international business and it focuses on language adaption. For along time, there are two problems which always confuse the development and improvementof this kind of English text: First, traditional translation theory can not guide informativetext translation. Second, it seems that business text is easy to translate, but because of itsrigorous professional terms and specific meaning of words, it is more difficult to betranslated than literary texts. Through translating Corporate Governance, I utilized Englishtranslator American translator Eugene A. Nida’s Functional Equivalence Theory topreliminary research and explore the features of informative text. By using these theories tosolve the problems in the translation, I can put forward theoretical principle for businessEnglish text on concerns corporate governance, provide ways to handle professional termsand propose effective translation strategy and methods.There are five parts in this report. The introduction briefly introduces the definitionof corporate governance, states the status quo and the value and significance of this kind ofEnglish translation. The first part is the description of the translation task. This chapterintroduces the background of task and summarizes some features of this book. Above all, itdetails American translator Eugene A. Nida’s Functional Equivalence Theory and pointsout the translation criteria for texts on corporate governance. The second part is thedescription of the translation process, including preparation, translation process and itemsafter translation. The third part is the core part. This chapter is first to introduce Nida’sfunctional equivalence theory and then to use it to show that vocabulary, sentence evenentire article can successfully achieve equivalence’s aim by solving real problems met intranslating Corporate Governance. Thus, it can be completely testified that the functionalequivalence theory can indicate the business English text concerning corporate governance.The last part is a summary. It points out the problems unsolved and relevant thoughts andoffers inspiration to my future study and work.
