An Observation On Common Characters In Chinese And Japanese In Communications Study View

Common characters in Chinese and Japanese study are a hot topic in Japanese study. For long time, scholars have been focused the study mainly on meaning comparison of common characters without noticing the long time existence and distribution of common characters in Chinese and Japanese.However, this study used a interdisciplinary method and observed the common characters in Chinese and Japanese from a communications study view.In this study, current situation of common characters in Chinese and Japanese study was discussed and a much clearer and more contemporary definition on the common characters in Chinese and Japanese was tried to be given which made the object of study easier to observe. During the introduction of Chinese and Japanese vocabulary history and the dating back of the common characters in Chinese and Japanese, doubts which might cause the division of common characters in Chinese and Japanese were found and the reason may be lying in the communications history of the common characters in Chinese and Japanese. Ordinary theories of communications study were used when observing the common characters in Chinese and Japanese, this included procedures observation with the models of Schramm, Shannon and Weaver, and Osgood.Besides, social communications of the common characters in Chinese and Japanese were observed in the mood of group communication, organization communication and mass media communication.This study shows that though the common characters in Chinese and Japanese are infinite characters, they could be an object of communications study.And communication of the common characters in Chinese and Japanese followed classic models of communications study. However, in the social communications section, the common characters in Chinese and Japanese have a unique side because of the history and culture reasons. Further, because of the existence ofcommon character system and familiar culture background, communications between China and Japan upon the common characters in Chinese and Japanese will continually happen.
