It has been years since the translation of MBA textbook in China.But because of poor translation quality,it is difficult for the readers to acquire knowledge from the textbook.As a representative of excellent MBA textbook,the translation study of Introduction to Business has significance guiding meaning to other related MBA textbooks.Introduction to Business consists of fifteen chapters,which is divided into six parts.It gives a comprehensive introduction to international business and trade theories and analyzes market-oriented economy environment as well as the management of companies under this kind of economic system.It also gives a brief introduction to the most important basic concepts,principles and main theories in business area.Jeff Madura is a famous American textbook writer.Many of his books are the most popular textbooks in a lot of famous universities in America.Textbook belongs to pragmatic style.The translation of it has significance guiding meaning in practice.The reasons that the translator chooses this book as corpus are that,for one thing,in terms of its linguistic feature,the language of this book is concise,systematic and logical.So the translation of it has general guiding significance to related textbook.For another,in terms of its content,the selected chapter is mainly about employee motivating theories and practice in the field of human resources management.In recent years,because of the popularity of MBA,related business management knowledge becomes more and more important,especially for graduates who are going to the workplace.The study of business administration knowledge helps them to work with ease in their workplace,so as to better put their knowledge into practice.So,no matter for translators or the readers,the translation of this source text has important meaning in practice.The translation report is divided into the following parts.The first part includes the motivation and goals of this task.The second part introduces the source text.It includes the content and features of source text and background information of the author.The third part gives a brief introduction to the translation process.In the fourth part,the translator gives abrief introduction to Nida's Functional Equivalence Theory that instructs the translation process.The fifth part illustrates how to achieve functional equivalence both in the aspect of vocabulary and sentence translation and elaborate the strategies with some cases.The last part gives a summary to the translation practice and sums up experience as well as finds some methods to solve the problem.
