A Study On Proverbs Of Ancient Sumer 4-6

Ancient Sumerian proverb is the precipitation and crystalliation of the Sumerian production and living wisdom, it is the essece of the Sumerian language and culture, thus ancient Sumerian proverb forms an the important historical material on Sumerian civilization research. Currently, China does not have systematic translation and research on the Sumerian proverb. Thus the ancient Sumerian proverbs will be detiledly sorted and translated from part 4-6 in this paper. At the same time, this paper dicusses the source and characteristics of the Sumerian proverbs, providing reliable information of Sumerian proverb research for scholars.First this paper introduces the source of the topic, the structure of the text and explains the context of the whole paper. Secondly, it briefly introduces the basic situation of the Sumerian proverb. Then it will re-organize, analyze and translate the relevant parts of the Danish scholar Alster 4-6 collection in the Proverbs of Ancient Sumer and the Electronic Text Corpus of Sumerian Literature. Although the Sumerian proverb of Latinization in the text all come from those English books, but the translation of Chinese and translation of English is not exactly the same. Each word is translated and rearranged according to the Sumerian original by the author. Finally, there will be a the detailed study of the collation and translation in the literature. Then it summarizes the three categories of ancient Sumerian proverbs:agriculture proverbs, satirical proverbs and daily proverbs, as well as the three major characteristics: endemical, educational and vulgar. I hope it have important reference value for scholars to study the Sumerian proverb.
