With China's increasing communication with other countries in the world,the English level of Chinese has been universally and greatly improved.And English education is gradually extended to the fundamental stages.According to the requests of National Ministry of Education,the English courses have been offered to students in grade three in nearly all the primary schools since the autumn of 2001.Moreover,English has been listed as a compulsory course in all levels of schools,whose attention is growingly paid.In the area of foreign language education,the influence of teachers' teaching beliefs on teachers,practices has been studied under the development of cognitive psychology.And researchers abroad or at home put the focus on the probing of the teacher's belief under the actual teaching activities.And many researchers abroad have shown great contributions to the studies concerning teaching belief based on the qualitative researches.In the earlier relevant studies in China,the researchers employed questionnaire to collect data and used the statistical method to analyze the data in this regard.Few empirical studies in China often set the teacher's belief of EFL teachers at the same level of schools as the research object,and the exploration of teaching belief of EFL teachers at different levels of schools have rarely been addressed.As teachers are the final decision-makers in the class,their teaching practices are closely related with their internal teaching beliefs.The in-depth study on teaching beliefs of EFL teachers at different levels has relation to the development of our country's future English education.In the present study,the first interview,the classroom observation and the second interview after the observation are conducted to obtain a deep understanding of teachers embedded teaching belief.The teaching beliefs of six English teachers of primary school,middle school,and university in Wuhan were examined.By the study,the author finds that teaching beliefs teachers of different levels of schools hold.And there do exist some similarities and differences in the teaching beliefs between teachers of different levels of schools.It can also be discovered that there are differences in the teaching beliefs between the novice teachers and experienced teachers.To improve the effectiveness of English teaching,the professional training of in-service teachers should be paid certain attention.English teachers of different levels need to be organized to understand the teaching beliefs of teachers of other levels.The exploration on the teaching beliefs of English teachers of different levels can help teachers to conduct teaching practice under the holistic guidance of teaching beliefs,to increase the recognition and understanding between English teachers of different levels,thus effectively facilitating the transition work between schools of different levels and providing assistance to the overall deployment of teaching.
