Residential building is the architectural form that has the most close relationship with people.In the meantime,the residential interior display has the most frequent,direct contact with people's daily life and directly influences people's normal habits and emotional expression reflecting a nation's basic life spirit.In recent years,there is an increasing number of the studies on interior display art.Many research achievements have been obtained at home and abroad,however,the comparative study of Chinese and Western interior display art is still not detailed and comprehensive enough.With the growing influence of internationalization,China is bound to come into the world orbit and the development of interior design will surly be affected accordingly.Knowing western culture and history is an important approach to know and learn the development of western interior design.Meanwhile,in line with the current development and problems of our residential interior display art,nationality and localization have been on the agenda.To know national culture and history and to advocate local characteristics is a guarantee for the healthy development of our residential display design as well as a demonstration of our interior designers' duty and value.Through the comparison of Chinese and western culture,this paper analyzes the similarities and differences between Chinese and western residential interior display art with the aim of exploring its origin,which is helpful for the development of residential interior display art.Therefore,this topic has certain theoretical and realistic significance.This paper uses lateral comparison method to analyze the residential interior display art under two geographical cultures in the same period,and to know the development status of Chinese and western residential interior display art in their representative period respectively.It not only helps us to deeply understand the characteristics of Chinese and western residential interior display art under their historical background but also helps us to know their cultural connotation and referentiability.The structure of this study: Firstly,the concept is defined and the research object is determined,which is the palazzo in Chinese Ming Dynasty and that in Italian renaissance architecture from 14 th to 17 th century.Secondly,it makes an investigation and analysis of their history and searches for their historical source.Thirdly,through the study of some representative cases in this period,it summarizes a more detailed and comprehensive comparison study and finds the similarities and differences as well as the value tendency making the paper's arguments more powerful and reasonable.In the end,it discusses the influence of Chinese and western display art on modern residential design and the prospect of the future Chinese residential interior display art.This paper judges the development of Chinese and western residential interior display art with a critical eye through the mutual comparison,mutual learning and absorption between them.It further improved the design and study of Chinese residential interior display art,explored the development direction of it and provided some theoretical evidences to the future residential interior display art.
