A Report On The Interpreting Of The Emergence Of The Missionary Sinology Of Documentary The Development Of Sinology

This paper is a practical report of consecutive interpreting. The material comes from the first episode The Emergence of the Missionary Sinology of a CCTV full-length cultural documentary series The Development of Sinology. Sinology, or Chinese study, is knowledge of Chinese people and culture studied by other countries. It makes a big difference that the author introduces the development of Sinology to foreigners. In this interpreting practice, through interpreting preparations, interpreting, proofreading, interpreter's interpreting skills have been fully improved.This report is mainly divided into four parts: task description, interpreting process, case analysis and interpreting summary. The task description is reviewed from three aspects, which respectively are task sources, information description and project significance. The interpreter elaborates the pre-interpreting preparations including the preparations of the translation theories, the selection of translation strategies and the solutions to some emergency situations in the part of interpreting process. In the chapter of case analysis, the interpreter emphasizes some interpreting cases and the solutions to them by using translation strategies. At the end of the report, the interpreter makes a summary of the gains and the losses in this interpreting task.
