After World War I, the Pacific problem is outstanding. The Institute of Pacific Relations which was duo to the young men's Christian Association was established. David Z.T.Yui, as the director of the Chinese Young men's Christian Association, combined with his own experience, active preparations, would like to take this national diplomacy, to provide intergovernmental diplomatic views of public opinion.Massacre of May 30th Movement broke this idea, provoking both religious and political controversy, David Z.T.Yui pacifist ideas published in due time;More, the next two meetings, by means of the national diplomacy, based on principles of pacifism concept, he published a lot of times. With the changes in the domestic and international situation, his idea changed:Both gave up national diplomatic manner, also abandoned the pacifist beliefs, requires tough means to defend territory.This, on second thoughts, the most fundamental reason is because Japan invaded led to ethnic conflicts increase, but also with the Pacific Seminar on deposit and about his own defects.David Z. T. Yui of change in thinking, showing at a time of national crisis, China Christian Christianity and politics, Christian and Patriot's identity efforts, reflecting the way of patriotic Chinese Christians in the Republic.
