Research On Zheng Concerto Yunshangsu

Chinese zither is one of the oldest musical instruments full of national features. During the developmental process of creating Chinese zither music, those works with Chinese style are increasingly favored by composers at home and abroad, since they consist of both graceful melody, mind tune and also thousands of years of Chinese culture.Yunshangsu is created by the famous composer Zhou Yuguo. Themed by Changhenge and augmented based on Xiangyun's melody, this work is composed by western instrument piano and national musical element, perfectly integrating Chinese and western composing skills. This paper falls into three chapters: the first chapter briefly introduces the work and its composer; the second one comprehensively analyzes the work; the third describes some reflections on the composition and development of Chinese Zither by the work analysis. With research on various aspects such as musical structure, piano accompaniment, harmony skills and composing techniques of Yunshangsu, the modern composing skills in the work are analyzed in this paper, so as to learn how the composer integrates Chinese and western musical writing skills together and broaden the thought for creating Chinese zither music.
