Investigation On The Lexical Features Of Hui Dialect In Northeastern Jiangxi

This study is one part of the project Research on the History and Current Situation of Hui Dialect in Jiangxi from the Perspective of Linguistic Geography(10BYY021)supported by the National Social Science Fund of China. With the vocabulary of Hui Dialect in northeastern Jiangxi as the studying object, the author sorts out the vocabulary list based on field research and conducts a comprehensive and comparative analysis.Through relevant investigation on phonetics and semantics, the author confirms the original characters of Hui Dialect in northeastern Jiangxi. She also validates appropriate original vocabulary in Hui Dialect in northeastern Jiangxi by referring to Guang Yun, Ji Yun and other ancient literature. By comparing the vocabulary of Hui Dialect in northeastern Jiangxi, mandarin vocabulary and vocabularies of other dialects in surrounding areas like Qimeng Dialect, Leping Dialect, Po Yang Dialect, Dongzhi Dialect(Gan Dialect), the author abstracts unique words from Hui Dialect in northeastern Jiangxi and explains the content distribution of these words and analyze these words briefly, so as to reveal the futures and characteristics of the vocabulary of Hui Dialect in northeastern Jiangxi. At last, the author uses chart calculation to analyze 200 core words and demonstrates the situation of interior vocabulary of Hui Dialect in northeastern Jiangxi. With the common vocabulary of Hui Dialect in northeastern Jiangxi and other dialects in surrounding 8 areas, the author studies the relation of vocabulary content between Hui Dialect in northeastern Jiangxi and neighboring dialects.With investigation on its vocabulary, this thesis tries to provide deeper understanding of Hui Dialect in northeastern Jiangxi, reveal Hui Dialect's characteristics and its relation with surrounding dialects and takes a view on the contact and evolution of this language. Hopefully it may enrich language contact theory.
