Eight Vocabulary Studies In The Song And Yuan Dynasties

Southern Opera is a kind of Chinese dramatic forms, which produced in the Wenzhou area of Zhejiang Province at the end of the Northern Song dynasty.Owing to the audience of Southern Opera is commom people, so the language of Southern Opera has a high degree of colloquialism which contains abundent dialect words and colloquial words.This dissertation treats Zhang Xie Zhuang Yuan, Xiao Sun Tu,Huan Men Zi Di Cuo Li Shen,Jing Chai Ji,Bai Tu Ji,Bai Yue Ting Ji,Sha Gou Ji,Pi Pa Ji as the research object. From the angle of lexicology,we make a comprehensive study to the drama words,dialectal and colloquial words, new words and meanings,conceptual fields.The dissertation is divided into four parts. The prolegomenon introduces the development of Southern Opera and the general situation of the Eight Southern Operas, including the Eight Southern Operas' characters, version situations, prensent research status and the significances in lexical research fileds.The first part studies the significant drama words,colloquial words and dialect words from the macroscopic perspective and the microcosmic perspective. This part anayses the characteristics of each kind of words from a holistic angle, while makes textual criticisms and explanations to those words which are difficult, unkown or misinterpreted by predecessors. By exploring words' origin via pronunciation,the first part makes a discusion to the motivations and the origins to those words,such as Bengba(??)DaidaiAia((?)),PenDiao(??).The second part studies the new words and meanings in the Eight Southern Operas by using the great Chinese Dictionary and the popular and authoritative corpora. The results showed that, the new words and meanings in the Eight Southern Operas are abundent, some words and meanings are endemic to the Eight Southern Operas. This part also provides new words and meanings,earlier exemplifications to the great Chinese Dictionary, and corrects the errots in the large-scale Chinese dictionaries.This study is beneficial to revise and perfect the great Chinese Dictionary.In order to overcome the limitations that studied from one point of view,the third part brings the theory of "conceptual field" to make a overall research. This part analyses the words which express the meanings of worry,sad and abet using the theory of "conceptual field" from synchronic and diachronic angles.Speaking specific-ally, the third part shows the activities and the word-building abilities of the main morphemes in the synchronic angle by the forms,while anayses the semantic changes of the main morphemes from diachronic angles, trying to indicate the abundent and varied characters of words in the Eight Southern Operas.
