The Contrastive Study On Speech Act Verbs Of Chinese And English Based On Semantic Map

Speech verbs, as the most important part of Chinese study, has mature research achievements in syntax, semantics, and pragmatics.However, most of previous speech verbs researches are based on one language and few publications can be found in the speech verbs comparative study of two languages.This dissertation is going to compare the Chinese and English speech verbs by utilizing semantic map model of typology, which recently attracts researchers'attention. The difference and similarities of speech verbs semantic concept between the two languages will be deliberately investigated.This dissertation is composed of five chapters and they are organized as follows: The introduction section starts with an overview of Chinese-English vocabulary comparative study, speech verbs and semantics map theory. Then, the topic selection, research method, research object and research goal are discussed.The research object is redefined and the range of Chinese and English speech verbs are determined. Moreover,the research goal is determined, which is capable of guiding the research direction efficiently.Based on Chinese and English speech verbs object semantic type, the second chapter analyzes the similarities and difference of object semantic type between 20 pair synonymous Chinese and English speech verbs in the example sentences.The third chapter discusses the passive sentences of 20 pair synonymous Chinese and English speech verbs and determines their summative's strength, which is processed by collecting the examples from CCL(Center of Chinese Linguistics) and English-spoken countries about whether the speech verbs can be integrated into the passive sentences or not, and if they can be integrated, whether they can appear alone or not.With the help of last two chapters in Chinese and English speech verbs semantic comparison and analysis, the fourth chapter initially draws the speech verbs basis semantic map. Then, different sections are segmented according to the function of Chinese and English, which are the semantic map of Chinese and English speech verbs.The fifth chapter comes up with some teaching suggestion in Chinese as second language, which is based on the Chinese and English speech verbs comparison and analysis, and the mistakes exposed in foreign students'Chinese speech verbs learning.
