Books design in developing and perfecting in the long river of history,from the appearance, production technology, sales model to the connotation of the text message, reading methods and habits change. Spine along with the development of the books themselves functional, formed its own unique system of materialized.The author believed that the spine form and change comes from people's pursuit for books and practical function, in the spine form satisfy people to read, access to information, on the basis of the aesthetic function of the spine, the period of the spine to carry on the design and decoration. Today, the development of the spine to be more perfect, the book designer pursuit of spine and practical function with the perfect combination of cognitive function, aesthetic function, while convenient for people to read books, giving people a perfect five senses to experience. The spine form is also more flexible, in pay attention to books, on the basis of the overall design, effectively convey the connotation of the text books, reflect the cultural temperament of books.The author in the process of research analysis of the design of the spine, using the method of literature search, field test, collected a large number of literature,instance pictures, observes, to the rough, mining which shed light on the problem of academic significance analysis.
