A Report On The Translation Of The Fourth Part Of Tech Proposal Volume

The author has been taking a part-time job as a translator in a company during the postgraduate phase.Many types of tasks have been done at that time,including this Tech Proposal Volume.Here,the author only selects the fourth part of the Tech Proposal Volume as the content of the report.With more and more international economic cooperation,the field of transnational engineering is becoming much more mature.As a guiding document for project construction,the technical proposal has a strong practical significance,featuring professional,rich in terminology and rigorous of the sentence patterns.The Tech Proposal Volume totally consists of 12 parts.The selected fourth part generally includes "preliminary design","design criteria"and "detailed design activities".It covers lots of things,containing the shape,materials,and standard design of each part of the project and various participants involved in it.Therefore,under the guidance of German functionalist translation theory,the author chooses some appropriate translation strategies during the translation to realize the function and effect equivalence in the condition of different languages.There are four chapters in this report.Chapter One introduces the description of the translation task,including the source of the text and requirements,description of the translation text and the significance of the translation project.Chapter Two is translation process introducing the preparation before translation,difficulties and analysis of the first draft,and the second draft modification and the final.Chapter Three is mainly about the case study under the guidance of the German Functionalist Translation Theory,consisting vocabulary and syntax.Chapter Four goes to the conclusion,stating the understanding of engineering English,basic quality the translator should have and the insufficiency and thought in the translation task.
