The Construction Of Poetry-A Study On The Classical Poetics Characters Of Jia Pingwa's Novels

Contents of the abstract. Times New Roman. Jia Pingwa is an active and prolific writer in the modern Chinese literary circle. His hometown is the source of his literary sentiment. The recall of his hometown and the stories and people there, and the introspection of city civilization is a consistent theme of his writing. When reading his writings, Chinese Classical Literature could be felt, especially some aesthetic elements of Classical Poetry, for example, abundant images, broad and all-embracing artistic conception, value of language's artistic conception and sound, and the outlook of the universe and life that man is an integral part of Nature and telepathy between Nature and Earth, etc. All this shows a unique mould of his writings. From a theoretical view of Chinese Classical Poetics, this dissertation analyses the reason and detailed presentation of the above idea.It is his gene of Confucianism and Taoism in Southern Shanxi Province, China that cultiv ated Jia's rich cultural mind and feelings as a classical literati. On the one hand, Jia's writing mind follows the style of "telepathy" and "Void and Quietness" of Chinese Classical Po etics; on the other hand, his descriptions always center on images, which riches the writings'i mplication. Moreover, Jia pays special attention to language preciseness and voice's artistic c onception and sound and sentiment, bringing about new implications and interest for the la nguage defamiliarization, while simple and magnificent taste of poetry being felt when readi ng.Chinese Classical Poetics is not only the source of Chinese Literary Criticism and Appreciation Theory, but also a presentation of Chinese literary mind, which is different from the logic frame and deconstructive mind of Western criticism. The mind of valuing feel and artistic conception, and the aesthetic standard of image and artistic conception of Chinese Poetics are the uniqueness of Chinese national culture, which are worthwhile to be attached importance to. Therefore, this dissertation tries to dig the Classical Poetics' value for modern literary criticism and writing, through the analyses of his novels' classical poetic quality from the view of Chinese Classical Poetics Theory.
