This thesis mainly aims to analyze and compare grade examination in theory and auditory test of the Associate Board of the Royal Schools of Music(ABRSM)with grade examination in solfeggio and ear training in our country.Music teaching in our country is based on the cultivation of skills,but pays more attention to fundamental theoretical course in recent years.Ever since the grade examinations of ABRSM was introduced into our country in 1990s,the system of music grade examinations in our country had been roughly divided into two types,that is,foreign evaluation system dominated by grade examinations of ABRSM and local evaluation system,which formed two relatively strong groups of music.After more than two-hundred-year development,the content and requirements of the grade examination in theory and auditory test of ABRSM is obviously more difficult than the grade examination in solfeggio and ear training in our country.The system of the grade examination of ABRSM benefits countless students,whose music quality,ability to understand and learn music cannot be exceeded.It can rank among the music grade examinations in the world,so there is no doubt that it is very competitive.The course of the grade examination in solfeggio and ear training in our country has a short-tenn development,but there is enough time to improve the content of this course.The ultimate objective is to improve the students' comprehensive quality and boost the development of music teaching in our country.By comparing two contents of the grade examinations in theory of ABRSM and the grade examination in solfeggio and ear training in our country,the author of this thesis constructively puts forward that the content and requirements of the grade examination in solfeggio and ear training in our country need further improvement and changes.In order to achieve long-term development of music in our country and cultivate more excellent students,a variety of music exams should be introduced intoevery city in our country.Through their comparisons,it can be known that which teaching method can be used and what kind of examination textbook can be adopted.The adopted examination textbook,with bigger superiority,stands out from all kinds of textbooks,which is very helpful for the cultivation of music talents in our country and boosts the connection with international development of music.Therefore,it is necessary to get rid of traditional thoughts that skills are most important and make efforts to cultivate well-rounded music talents.
