| Since the first group of Japanese immigrants arrived in Hawaii to work as laborers in 1868, there were about three hundred thousand immigrants and their descendants living in the United States as of 1940. Increasingly, it had blossomed into the Japanese ethnic group. But the Pearl Harbor has thoroughly changed the fate of Nikkei. After that, the United States government released control policy against Nikkei living on the west coast and this policy caused a profound impact on them. The paper attempt to recall the history of Nikkei who living in west coast of United States during World War Ⅱ and pay great attention on control policy and what to do about the process. The paper appraises the impact on Nikkei at last. First of all, this paper introduces Japanese immigrants before World War Ⅱ. Then, it analyzes the background and reasons of the control policy released by United States government from several aspects. Next, it expounds the process of applying control policy, including the removal and relocation of Nikkei, basic conditions and management situations of the relocation center part. Finally, it discusses the impacts of the control policy against Japanese ethnic group which are expounded in the aspects of politics, economy, military and Americanization. |
