Writing In A Sincere Attitude-Xu Zechen’s Novels Study

Xu Zechen, one of the most stunning writers in contemporary Chinese literary arena, whose work can always bring a fresh but unique power to readers, even in the big background of high-speed development and noisy fickleness. Basing on the writing idea of “sincere attitude”, Xu Zechen listens to and tells the meaning of life in a plain and sincere attitude, observes the reality as a bystander, and touches the hearts of readers without any turbulence and lostness. He reviews his life journey and looks into the infinite future in his works; values of human beings and lives are all extended fully in his novels. Acute observation enables him to access all kinds of themes; citizens-oriented style makes his works different. However, he never intended to pursue bitterness and difficulties, and always be easy about weakness in human personality. His novels are always complicated but connected in this or that way. The possibilities for novel will spur him to explore unremittingly.This paper focuses on Xu Zechen’s novels and is composes from three chapters: The first chapter will focus on the diversity of themes, mainly the Story and Memory in Flower Street, the “Beijing drift” Reality and Idealized Life, Exotic Area Creation and Puzzle Exploration three types. The second chapter will study the characters of Xu Zechen’ novels, including characters with perseverance and faith, hard life characters and characters with personality beauties. The third chapter will illustrate Xu Zechen’s narration strategies, including a heart-felt narration starting point, unique narration skills and the narration function of surrounding views.
