Recently, with the environmental and ecological movement in the ascendant, the appreciation of nature has become a new focus of aesthetic appreciation, and environmental aesthetics and natural aesthetics have been turned into a hot topic of modern aesthetics. So that many scholars have devoted themselves to finding the correct and appropriate natural aesthetic mode. The introduction part mainly summarizes the domestic and foreign scholars' research on Nick Zangwill's new formalism aesthetics.Compared with foreign countries, few domestic scholars study in Zangwill's formalism aesthetics. It can be broadly divided into two categories: One is a special study on Zangwill's formalism aesthetics in nature. This type of article is relatively rare, but there is a growing trend; The other is searching on the thought of others quoted Zangwill's view in their articles. At present, this type of articles is in the majority. The first chapter is about the general situation of the development of formalism natural aesthetics since ancient Greece. And introduce the relationship and differences between these two theories of classical extreme formalism and new formalism. Then, simply introduces Nick Zangwill's views for the two kinds of formalism natural aesthetics. The second chapter sums up the reasons for the rise of Nick Zangwill's new formalism in the appreciation of natural beauty. Then, analysising the theory of Nick Zangwill's new formalism natural aesthetics in detail. This paper focuses on his different attitudes towards organic nature and inorganic nature. In the inorganic nature aspect,he insists the original extreme formalism view, that all inorganic things only have formal properties; However,In the field of organic nature,he develops a new formalism view, that part of the organic matters only have formal properties, and some of the organic matters have non-formal properties at the same time. The third chapter discusses some core issues of natural appreciation, such as the "frame problem", "participation question", "aesthetic judgment and aesthetic value" and so on.In addition, for some correlation problem, this paper compares Nick Zangwill's thought with Hepburn,Budd and Carlson' by means of comparison, illustration and so on.The fourth chapter deals with the contributions and deficiencies of Nick Zangwill's new formalism natural aesthetics.Through the consolidation of his ideas, this paper sums up his contribution to the development of the theory of natural aesthetics, mainly manifested in the criticism of anti-formalism,the breakthrough and development of classical formalism and providing a new aesthetic paradigm for natural aesthetics. At the same time, this paper also summarizes the problems in the development of his theory, such as not completely free from the confinement of classical formalism, the part and whole analysis theory and the proposition of inorganic nature does not exist non-formal beauty. In the conclusion part, this paper expounds the inspiration of the new formalism natural aesthetics to us.First of all, through a profound understanding of Nick Zangwill's new formalism natural aesthetics,we should give affirmation to the value and significance of his theory. Therefore,in the natural aesthetic appreciation,we should also realize that not only consider the aesthetic object itself, but also take the aesthetic subject, the historical and cultural context and other factors into account. In fact, various natural aesthetic modes are not completely opposite.Maybe, only we combine their own reasonable ingredients, can they play their real aesthetic value and significance.
