With the accelerated process of globalization and the deepening of reform and opening up, China's economy has been developing stably in recent years, and the sustainable economic developments have promoted the increasingly frequent economic transactions between enterprises both at home and abroad. The signing of business contract which clearly describes the rights and obligations of the contracting parties is an essential guarantee to ensure economic transactions to go smoothly. Therefore, the translation of business contracts has become extremely practical and the study of C-E translation of business contracts is of considerable realistic significance. This report mainly describes the translation experience of three Chinese business contracts(Xianghuai Automobile Sales Contract, Lease Contract and Construction Service Contract) into English. The translation practice on C-E translation of business contract is mainly guided by register theory proposed by Halliday. During the translation practice, the first step was to identify register features, or “register markers”, of the three Chinese business contracts from the aspects of the three register variables: field, tenor and mode, in order to get familiar with that of English business contracts by reading parallel texts. Then these “register makers”, especially “register makers” in English business contracts are adopted to conduct the C-E translation of business contract and case analyses are made on the translated materials to find out translation problems and solutions respectively in terms of field, tenor and mode equivalence hoping to prove that the register theory plays a significant role in making the translated contract text better accepted by the target language readers.
