Animation Theatre:A New Form Of Animation Display

Nowadays in the context of modern art, due to animators'continuous exploration on animation forms, and contemporary artists' experiments on animation art, the combination between animation and installation, new media art becomes closer. Animation display changes from single to multiple screen display. It breaks the traditional animation narrative structure and separates single narrative way, similar to the collage art, but the elements possess mutual independence. Different plots take place in the same space simultaneously, which creates a scene to enable the viewers to restructure image editing according to their own will. When I watch it makes me think about the innovation from single to multiple screen. How does it release the audience from passive state of watching and activate their body awareness? By researching on the phenomenon mentioned above, this article is to explore and research the form of "animation theatre".The article consists of five chapters:first chapter is the introduction. Base on my own creation, the author explains the concept "animation theatre" as well as the traditional concept of theatre, and point out that "animation theatre" is not a complete deviation from the traditional theater, but an innovation of animation related with theater. The second chapter gives a brief introduction on the evolution of the animation to animation theatre from three perspectives: animator, the place of animation showing and the audience. The third chapter is about the narrative way of animation theatre. The author carries out specific analysis from three aspects:language, time, space, and point out that animation theatre and pioneer literature are similar in the innovation of form and content. The fourth chapter, on the basis of the analysis of the structure of animation theatre in the third chapter, summarizes its unique artistic characteristics. In the last chapter base on my personal creation, I discuss the application of animation theater in practice, as well as the possibility of further expression of animation theatre.Animation theatre is seeking a more suitable pattern of expression for animation display, as well as a better way to watch.
