The Analysis On The Writing Subjects Of Lung Yingtai

As one of the most influential writers in Chinese-speaking world today, Lung Yingtai always has a lot of status labels such as intellectual, “edge person”, mother, daughter, feminism theorist and cultural officer. Throughout her twenty-year writing career, it can be seen that all her works are closely related to her experience, each experience promotes her profound thinking, and finally she makes her thinking into the type books. In her years and years of writing career, the subjects of her works change with the conversion of her status. These works have very important value, which are not only the portraiture of her life experiences, but also the window to learn ourselves, learn Taiwan and learn the world.The thesis is mainly divided into four parts, focuses on the entirely different subjects of her works demonstrated from her status such as intellectual, “edge person” and female. The introduction briefly introduces the origin of research question, the research review and the significance of selected topic. The first chapter focuses on her role as the public intellectual, and discusses the humanistic care in her essays, including the reflections to history and respect for life, the thought of civilization, and the pursuit of democracy. The second chapter focuses on her role as “edge person”, discusses the haze and daze in her works surrounding status identity and cultural identity. The third chapter focuses on her role as female, explores her practice to family education as a mother, and explores her sadness and philosophic thinking about elders' death as a daughter. What is importantly is to explore her efforts for completing female self-construction as a feminist, including the confrontation and criticism against male's oppression and male-dominated culture, the cry for female awareness of self-consciousness, the writing of female life experience.
