The Influence Of Information Types To Undergraduates’ Public Mood

On the basis of literature study,we develop the Public Mood Scale and test its Reliability and validity,so as to explore the components construct of public mood.College students responded to the inventory.Correlation analysis,exploratory factor analysis and confirmatory factor analysis were applied to the data analysis,and used this scale to discuss the affect of information type to public mood of college students.The main findings and conclusions are as follows:1.Public Mood Scale was consisted of two dimensions,positive emotions and negative emotions,factor analysis indicated that the two factors explain 61.3%of the variance with loading between 0.68～0.86;The Cronbach’s coefficients of positive and negative public mood were 0.81 and 0.76;Positive public mood had positive correlations with Big Five personalities(r=0.22～0.33,p<0.01),which were extraversion,agreeableness,responsibility and openness,negative correlation was found between neuroticism(r=-0.25,p<0.01)and positive public mood(r=-0.24,p<0.01).Positive public mood had significant positive correlation with government satisfaction,economic development confidence and social stability(r=0.34～0.45,p<0.01),while they have significant negative correlations with negative public mood(r=-0.32～-0.24,p<0.01).The Public Mood Scale obtained in the present study has satisfying validities and reliabilities and is suitable for use among undergraduates.2.Joint factor analysis showed that public mood and personal mood were different and separated(χ2/df=1.82,CFI =0.90,PNFI=0.60,RMSEA=0.06).Because of this separation,the government and public audiences did not understand each other.We should pay attention to public mood during Public opinion supervising and social alarming.3.Information of positive public sphere did not cause the change of public mood and personal mood.Information of negative public sphere made significant changes in public and personal mood.Information of positive private sphere made significant changes in negative mood.Information of negative private sphere reduced positive mood significantly,when impact negative mood,only the public mood had a significant change.During Public opinion supervising,in order to try to achieve negative public mood towards positive public mood,this reminds the government should pay attention to the sphere of content specially.4.There was interaction between information type and justice sensitivity observer,and it only influenced the change of negative public mood.Justice sensitivity observer moderated public mood rather than personal mood.The information of positive private sphere caused large changes in negative public mood of low justice sensitivity observer,and positive public sphere information also caused large changes in negative public mood of high justice sensitivity observer.The characteristics of information and individual both had an impact on public mood,the government should pay attention to information of public sphere and group of high justice sensitivity observer during public opinion supervising.
