With the concept of health spread abroad and the popularization of exercise worldly, the research on the relationships between exercise and metal heath had been popularizing in sports psychology field. This research is to investigate the effects of exercises which are popular in the university on the participants' mood states, the differences of effects from exercise on the participants' mood states, the relationships between the changes in participants' mood states and the factors consist in different exercise manners.336 students in grade tow, 165 of whom from departments of liberal arts and 171 of whom from departments of science, in Hebei Normal University were tested randomly. The Profile of Mood States was used. The results indicated that:1. Exercises improved the participants' mood states effectively by means of increase the positive moods and reduce the negative moods; Sitting or reading improved the participants' mood states by means of reduce the negative moods, but it did not increase the positive moods.2. Different categories of exercises have different effects on the participants' mood states. Contrast to sitting or reading, all the exercises increased the participants' vigor and reduced the participants' fluster; Among the exercises, the closed exercises increased the participants' self-esteem effectively, setting-up exercise reduced the participants' negative moods significantly, basket-ball produced the most negative moods, table-tennis produced the least fatigue; Contrast to exercise groups, sitting and reading produced the least negative.3. The participants' mood states of opened exercise group were significantly correlated with the result of the games, self-evaluation of performance in the games and many other factors consist in games. The participants' mood states of closed exercise group were significantly correlated with the extent of participants' favor to the exercise and the categories of the exercise.
