The main idea of this paper is to analyze a French artist called Paul Gauguin through the theory of Maslow's motivation and personality, in the view of crossed-subjects,we Will find out the same spiritual carrier under the differences between the psychology and art. Detecting the most secret soul, by searching his lives and creations in the way that multi-angles. Thus can deply and profoundly understand the truth of his art, and let the readers reveal in the aspect of sprite.There are three chapters in this paper, all of these are detailed-analysis about Paul Gauguin's creative philosophy,artistic style and the efffect of modern artistists in the prospect of artistic philosophy.the first chapter is the inital detectation about Maslow's theory,from the brief introduction.through a deeper discussion of those people who are sutiable for five different needs and self-actualization,gradually to the core---the absence of sence of belonging.the second chapter tells you the effect on Paul Gauguin's art which caused by the absence of sence of belonging,regard his artistic lives,creative pholisophy,and creative style as the main rules.then seperateley explain Paul Gauguin's case in different ways, such as, the artistic brief, the life experiences, the artistic experiences,the remains, and kinds of enviroment,style and ideology of paiting.the third chapter is based on the second chapter,interpreted pholisophic meanings of the absence of sence of belonging in modern artists, I start with analysing the common phenomemon,called the absence of sence of belonging,which exist in artists, and discovering that these effects are not only in Paul Gauguin,but also in other artists, then doing a profound individual analsis on them, at last.pointing out that the possive and negative effects in the creative possess of artists that caused by the absence of sence of belonging.Under the Maslow's theory,one propose of this paper is to detect the absence of sence of belonging in post-impressionism Paul Gauguin and modern artists, the other propose is basing the effect of the absence of sence of belonging on Paul Gauguin's artistic life to explore the common character of the absence of sence of belonging in modern artists, so that, to give a hand for the research of Paul Gauguin and modern artists in our country.
