Currently, many Chinese idioms dictionary criculating in the market are marked too little about the word that used for male or oftern described for male. Besides, the research of the male orientation in modern Chinese idioms is very few, therefore, it is necessary to verify and analyze those unlabeled words which are male-orientated in using. Based on a dictionary of Chinese Idioms(the part of describing person), we verify the idioms in CCL corpus(web version), and combine with the relevant principle of mark ness theory, cultural science and linguistics to analyze those male-orientated idioms. This paper is trying to provide a valuable reference for the research of the male orientation in modern Chinese idioms and the using of these idioms.The writer classified the labeled male idioms from the dictionary and ruled out some useless idioms through verifying unlabeled idioms which can be described for male in CCL corpus. In this way, we collected about 244 male-orientated idioms. Through the study on the usage of these idioms in ancient and modern age, and the analysis of overt and covert male orientation of modern Chinese idioms to figure out the characteristic of male-orientated idioms and get the knowledge of Chinese tradiontional culture and Chinese male 's culture. In the conclusion, we find that the frequency of the usage in most male-orientated has a downward trend nowadays. In addition, the overt male orientation in idioms is embodied in the morpheme of the idioms.
