This practice report is based on my translation of a history professor's article “Persian Style in Yuan Blue and White Porcelains”. It gives a vivid description about Yuan blue and white porcelains. The translation was expected to be finished within a month in accurate and smooth English with “resemblance both in form and spirit.” Through finishing the translation work from Chinese to English, I realize it is not an easy job to be a professional translator and I do have a long way to go. Although this translation task is uneasy for me to fulfill with high quality, I have tried every means to make the target language accurate and smooth. This translation practice report is mainly composed of 5 parts: the task description, the process description, preparations before translation, case analysis and practice summary. The first two parts are a general presentation of the translation practice report. The third part is mainly about how the author read the original texts and the parallel texts, prepare the relative reference books and technical terms, watch and learn the relative video materials. As for the fourth part, it is the core part of this translation practice report, which specifically analyzes how to use translation techniques in translating words, sentences and paragraphs, such as conversion of word classes, transliteration and annotation, literal translation and annotation, addition and omission, foreignizing and domesticating strategies and recasting. The last part is the summary report, which tells how the author feels in the whole translation practice.
