Practice Report On The Translation Of The Last Battle

This translation project is based on the translation practice of the children literature The Last Battle(from chapter 1 to chapter 7) from English to Chinese. On the basis of other references, this report combines the theory and practice of translation, and reflects the whole process of the author’s translation. Through the analysis of the source context, the report tries to figure out the proper translation methods and strategies to make the original text familiar to young readers and help them learn.The report shows clearly the process of the author’s translation, including translation plan and translation procedure; tackling the problems and difficulties that I encountered during the co-translation. This project is divided into five parts. The first part is the description of the translation task, the background of the book and the demands from the press. The second part is the description translation process, including preparation, translation and revision. The third part is preparations for translation, which describes the preparation we made before translation. The forth part is case analyses, which introduces the difficulties we encountered and the strategies we used to make the target more suitable for young readers. The last part is the conclusion which summarizes the experiences in the translation.
