Chinese Traditional Element Reconstruction Design And Research Under The Influence Of Cubism

Contemporary jewelry stress to rethink the value of jewelry, to experiment with new materials, to renew its connection with body. All these things promote the development of the jewelry. And the Cubism, as an art movement, its core thought is similar with contemporary jewelry. Both of them are processes to rethink the conventional wisdom, to redefine the value of painting and jewelry. Therefore, I summarize the core thought and the creation way of the Cubism, and then put forward a systematic creation way, called“Reconstruction”, and demonstrate that using the Reconstruction way to make contemporary jewelry works is a creation method which is creatively and possible. The thesis also includes the description of “Jin Hui Dui”, a kind of Chinese art, which also use Reconstruction way to create art works, and demonstration about the creativity and possibility of using Reconstruction way to explore how to use Chinese traditional elements in contemporary jewelry making. Finally, I choose gourd as the basic element and material, and use Reconstruction way to do design experiments, and make a series of jewelry works.
