Literary works are a great treasure in China, and one of the greatest contributors is Lin Yutang. His work My Country and My People is a comprehensive book, which involves many aspects and classes in society. Literature aesthetics combines all the aesthetics feelings of Chinese traditional culture, thus is put into our heart and never fades. In addition, the novel itself has a sense of aesthetics and has contained the content of Chinese traditional culture. The work My Country and My People by Lin Yutang conveys quantities of ideas and values in Chinese traditional culture. Besides, most of them are the same with our modern times. It shows us that the two Chinese translations of this work by Huang Jiade, Hao Zhidong and Shen Yihong, and we can find out the various pursuits of aesthetics of the translators. Aesthetics of Translation by Liu Miqing is based on aesthetic subject and aesthetic object in the text, analyzes the beauty in words, phrases, sentences and paragraphs and then demonstrates the analysis of images and symbols in literary works. This dissertation, starting from the theory of Aesthetics of Translation, tries to make a contrastive analysis of My Country and My People. Firstly, from the viewpoint of the aesthetic subject(the translator) in Aesthetics of Translation and through the analysis of the aesthetic information in the characters, words, sentences and paragraphs in the translations, we discover that the aesthetic subject plays an important role in translation, and the analysis of the aesthetic components is constrained by different aesthetic subjects. Secondly, through analyzing the relationship between aesthetic object and aesthetic subject, it is discovered that the differences in aesthetic subjects leads to differences in the selection of images, which results in the great change of mood. Thirdly, since different translators of different times may understand a text in different ways, both SL-oriented representation and TL-oriented representation must be based on the rules of best readability to choose the best translation.while analyzing SL-oriented representation and TL-oriented representation. Finally, through the analysis of the two translated versions, it is discovered that the beauty of the aesthetic object is transferred to another aesthetic object according to the experiences and insights of life of the aesthetic subject, which shows us that empathy is an expression of one's natural feelings. But in the process of empathy, there usually appear obstacles of space?time?culture, and psychology, so while translating a text, the aesthetic subject has to pay more attention to the obstacles caused by the external factors. This dissertation aims to discover how to represent the beauty in translation from the perspective of Liu Miqing's Aesthetics of Translation and help translation practice in some way.
