In the history of literature illustration, the late Ming Dynasty is a golden age, which has witnessed the flourish of masterpieces. Because of its specific social context and cultural context in this period of time, the literary illustrations enjoy a high artistic value and commercial value. By analyzing the integration of commercial and cultural in the late Ming Dynasty, and the development and spread of the narrative illustrations, the thesis studies the development of engraving books in Ming Dynasty. The thesis also studies a unique way to crate dramatic scene from the aspect of popular culture aesthetic to reveal the core and deep form of engraving literature illustrations. Studying the visual form and expression of the image from the perspective of illustration design has important enlightening meaning for contemporary illustration work in balance, expression of the image, reflection of text connotation, emotion and values. At the same time, it is of great significance for us to combine the traditional illustration theme and form with the modern media.
