Translation And Analysis Of Memorandum Of Association Of United Kingdom

The thesis analyzes in detail the Memorandum of Association of British Virgin Islands (BVI) for the purpose of getting a clear understanding about features of the glossary and sentences through the translation and analysis of a legal English article, so as to know and master the Chinese translation method of legal English. The thesis mainly deals with the following problems:1. difficult legal terms; 2. coordinate words and structures (including coordinate nouns, verbs and prepositions); 3. parenthesis; 4. various interpretative, modified and determinative non-skeleton constituents. When identifying confusing terms, the word meaning discrimination method is adopted for the understanding and translation in the thesis. When analyzing complicated sentences, the skeleton searching method is used to simplify structures, and the attribution hierarchy method is employed to clarify the relationship of different parts of the sentences. When doing translation, the skeletons are first translated before placing the translations of non-skeleton constituents at all levels in proper positions, which involves the determination of meanings of some propositions, conjunctions, nouns and other key words and the comprehensive utilization of logic inference.
