Research On Mary Mellor's Eco-feminism

Mary Mellor is one of the representative personage of the British Marxism eco-feminism which also be called as Socialism eco-feminism by some scholars. From the perspective of women, she criticized the capitalist patriarchy and the existing capitalist economic system sharply. She tried to explore the relationship between women and ecology, putting forward that the essential of relationship between them is the common experience that they were externalized in a modern economy. During the research, she re-examined Marx's historical materialism and feminist theory, re-examined the essentialism, and then presented the materialist eco-feminism gradually. In order to solve women's subordinate status in the social economy and the ecological crisis, she tried to realize the integration of eco-feminism and eco-socialism, and claim to make the feminist eco-socialism come true firmly. For that, she put forward some principles, such as valuing the great importance of women's work, establishing an ecologically sustainable provisioning economy, focusing on the feasibility of money policy and other ways to pursue the realization of Green economy. We should analyze it dialectically. Although her Eco-feminism is a utopia one, it makes sense to our country's construction of ecological civilization.
