Angela Mellor is one of British best-known contemporary and has a uniquely artistic style of ceramists.The most representative is translucent bone china ceramic works which the symbol of the development of her artistic conception to maturity from the 90's.Mellor is the first ceramist to add paper fiber to bone china clay.Her works are inspired by natural forms,and have established a good“cooperative relationship”with nature,which is embodied in its diverse style of decoration.In addition,she also combines hand-build ceramic works with lighting design to provide more new possibilities for future handicrafts development.Taking Angela Mellor's translucent bone china ceramic works as the research object,this thesis tries to make an in-depth study of her translucent bone china ceramic works and the art concept development,according to Mellor's email interview and the domestic and foreign published literature.The use of comparative induction method,the specific works of illustration and other research methods.First of all,analyze the reasons for creating translucent bone china ceramic works,from the perspective of Mellor's textile printing design professional learning background,the life and learning experience of immigrant Australia.The second,analyze the unique craft and distinctive personal decoration style of Mellor ceramic works,from material research,molding technology and decorative techniques of the translucent bone china ceramic works.Finally,summarizes the artistic features of Mellor translucent bone china ceramic works from decorative,shadow and texture.Reading Mellor's artistic concept and the understanding of light:the integration of natural form and decoration,and light as the core of her works.
