Orthodoxy of gods faith is a progress of a regional deity belief ascending to a national one with assistance of certain powers. Mazu evolved from a regional spirit to the lord of sea of national influence, presenting a good example of such an orthodox progress, in which literati played the most important role. This article selects the Mazu-related literature of Fujianese literati during Song and Yuan Dynasties as study resources, and tries to interpret the images of Mazu built by literati of different dynasties, social strata and regions during its orthodox. The orthodox of Mazu is dynamic; its image building has to be in line with the feudal political needs, interests and ideology, as well as embodies the Tianfei concepts of those literati. In summary, the image building for Mazu of Fujianese literati during Song and Yuan Dynasties is a success and of critical importance during the orthodox of Mazu, rendering Mazu nationally popular from a regional spirit and being included in the sacrificial system.
